There’s no question that being a celebrity comes with a lot of fantastic perks. There’s fame, fortune, luxury vacations, exotic cars, mansions, private jets if possible, yachts and just generally getting special treatment everywhere you go.
Here, we take a look at some of the super-rich Nigerian celebs who are rocking the boat
NWANKWO KANU

Just as his football career was about to pick up in 1993, after a wonderful performance at the U-17 World Championships, Kanu Nwankwo was diagnosed of suffering from a heart related ailment which many football lovers thought would cut shot his dream of becoming a superstar.

But miraculously, he survived the surgeon’s knife and today he is one of the influential footballers of all time. The retired footballer fondly called Papilo today sits atop a multibillion business empire. With the bulk of it in real estate and the hospitality industry, he is also a philanthropist especially with his Kanu Heart Foundation which caters for children with heart related ailments.

The former Footballer of the Year and UNICEF ambassador was the captain of the Nigerian national team for 16 years. He has won a UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal, three FA Cup Winners Medals, and two African Player of the Year awards among others. He is also one of the few players who have won the Premiere League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal. Nwankwo has a lot of properties scattered across the country especially in Lagos and Owerri.

It was gathered that the player owns a mansion located at Opebi and his multi million naira Hardley Suite in Victoria Island aside his photo shop on Allen Avenue and three mansions in Parkview, Ikoyi, Lagos . Although, he recently lost about N1.4b to fraudsters, he however pockets N2m daily as profit from his hotel business.

Though much is not known about his investments abroad but he is a major share holder in big Nigerian companies even as he pockets millions from endorsement contracts from corporate giants such as Peak Milk, Airtel, among others. He is estimated to be worth in cash and assets to the tune of N19b.


P -SQUARE

The sensational music duo, Peter and Paul, known as P-Square are no doubt famous and rich but their rating soared higher when they were rated tops at the Forbes list of Africa’s richest artistes. They were ranked third after Don Jazzy and Akon who topped the list. The list was put together using factors such as endorsement value, investment, sales, shows, awards, YouTube views, social media presence, influence, among many other factors.

The twins who have featured in Forbes list twice sure love the good things of life. They usually have sold out concerts both home and abroad, presidential guests of at least five African countries, flies private jets and live big. Inasmuch as they churn out good music, they charge heavily for their performances at home and more abroad.

They smile home with N5m per show in Nigeria and charge as much as N24m and above when contracted for their services abroad. Last year, the ‘Chop my money’ crooner were said to be building a N400m mansion in Parkview Estate where landed properties start from N100m. The house as gathered will be a twin duplex like the one in their Omole Estate home. The Anambra born Glo ambassadors are also into the oil and gas business.

In December, Peter, one of the music superstar tweeted a picture of his newly acquired mansion in San Francisco, USA with his kids and wife Lola Omotayo Okoye. The house is worth over N434m. Psquare has easily sold above 14 million copies of their CDs since 2005.

Apart from the four year endorsement deal with telecoms giant Globacom for N240m, they own Rayfield Hotel in Jos including a multimillion naira bakery and sachet water factories. When it comes to automobiles, they do not settle for less. Psquare cruises in different Sports Untility Vans like Sequia, hummer, truck, Range rover sport, among many others
GENEVIEVE

Unlike some other celebrities who crave for the klieglight, screen goddess, Genevieve Nnaji, always make headlines whenever she steps out. The Mbaise born actress has carved a niche for herself in the make believe world and she indeed living the life of a star.

Having featured in over a hundred movies and still counting, Nnaji, a professional to the core is at the top of her game. Nnaji has received several awards and nominations for her work at home and abroad. The former ‘Face of Lux’ ‘Face of MUD’, among other commercials has raked in millions of naira apart from her booming clothing line St Genevieve. She was also the brand ambassador of Range Rover Evogue.

The revered actress who is romantically linked with music superstar, D’banj is also into real estate business. She is currently acquiring properties in Lagos State . The ebony beauty is said to have recently moved into her magnificent mansion inside Parkview Estate, Ikoyi. The new property is coming after she acquired a posh home for her aged parents in Lekki.

A source claimed that she is also the owner of her former residence in Oniru Estate , Victoria -Island, Lagos State . Fondly called Genny, the queen of the tube and so far the only successful musician in Nollywood who pockets N2m per movie, is in love with designer purses, bags and shoes and she spends heavily in foreign currency in acquiring these items. She also cruises in state of the art cars
